Love indie crafts and supporting Detroit artists? Check out the Craft Uprising & Art in the Alley this Friday in Wyandotte. From 6 to 10 p.m., you'll peruse goods made by Detroit's finest indie crafters. Works by Car City Couture-  fun retro-style pillows, paintings, prints, handbags and magnets. Their work has been seen all over town, at the Renegade Craft Fair, the Atomic Holiday Bazaar, the Detroit Artists Market, Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center, Domaci Gallery and most recently Biddle Gallery.

Other crafters this month include Taryn Boyd of TalkingSquid (check out the handmade rugs she makes from old t-shirts on

her Etsy site) and birch bark jewelry by Heather Fagan of BirdsGather

Art in the Alley is a collaboration with Spunky Monkey Art Association whose mission is to showcase talent available Downriver. Spunky Monkey will host art-related activities in the alley behind Biddle Gallery. It's all part of Wyandotte's 3rd Fridays, a year-long promotion where city shops and galleries host special events (and a chance for you to take advantage of free trolley and horse-drawn carriage rides).
