Huron-Clinton Metroparks

Where: the 13 Metroparks in southeast Michigan

Socialize, exercise and gain experience while lending a hand at the parks, especially at the nature centers and golf courses. Volunteers who reach a designated number of hours receive a Metroparks annual permit, free use of some facilities and an invitation to recognition dinners in the parks. Volunteer for a single project or on an ongoing bais.

Walking Photography
Start: 6:00 pm
End: 7:00 pm

Where: Heritage Park Nature Center, Farmington Hills

Take a walk with a nature photographer and learn methods for capturing great nature photographs. Bring your camera, questions and walking boots for this a hands-on class.

Cost: Residents, $10; nonresidents, $15

Art Van Spring Design Classes
Start: 6:30 pm

Where: 22555 Greenfield Rd., Southfield

Art Van will host design classes to help participants make the most of their design projects. Participants may register for the four-part series or stop by the class of their interest. Topics include: Determining Your Style (Week 1);  The Impact of Color (Week 2);  Furniture Placement (Week 3); and Accessorizing (Week 4). The Kids Castle also will be open, and it offers a free, supervised play area for children.
