The Ashcan school artists depicted the lower levels of the socio-economic scale, the raw, unvarnished people who lived and toiled in New York during the turn of the 20th century. While this material represents one aspect of these artists’ oeuvre, it’s not representative of the entire spectrum of their work. Playwright and novelist A.R. Gurney’s Love Letters, a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize, will be the first in a series of plays at the St. Clair Shores Country Club’s new dinner theater.
