While this material represents one aspect of these artists’ oeuvre, it’s not representative of the entire spectrum of their work. This four-session workshop for adults teaches how to decorate pots using creative techniques with slips, stains, glazes and cold wax. Students make test forms in the first class, then apply surface techniques and glazing in the other classes. Students are welcome to bring small, unglazed bisqueware pieces to practice on. Students should have basic knowledge of wheel-throwing and hand-building.

Where: The 13 Metroparks in southeast Michigan

Socialize, exercise and gain experience while lending a hand at the parks, especially at the nature centers and golf courses. Volunteers who reach a designated number of hours receive a Metroparks annual permit, free use of some facilities, and an invitation to recognition dinners in the parks. Volunteer for a single project or on an ongoing basis.
