Where: The 13 Metroparks in southeast Michigan

Socialize, exercise and gain experience while lending a hand at the parks, especially at the nature centers and golf courses. Volunteers who reach a designated number of hours receive a Metroparks annual permit, free use of some facilities, and an invitation to recognition dinners in the parks. Volunteer for a single project or on an ongoing basis.

Learn basic kayaking skills in the beginner class (gear provided), or the fundamentals of rolling a capsized kayak in the second class. Bring water clothing and shoes, nose plugs, a towel and an extra set of clothing. Class size is limited; maximum student/instructor ratio in the basic class is 4:1, and 2:1 in the roll class.
