Huron-Clinton Metroparks

Where: The 13 Metroparks in southeast Michigan

Socialize, exercise and gain experience while lending a hand at the parks, especially at the nature centers and golf courses. Volunteers who reach a designated number of hours receive a Metroparks annual permit, free use of some facilities, and an invitation to recognition dinners in the parks. Volunteer for a single project or on an ongoing basis.

2008 MS Longest Day of Golf

Where: More than 40 courses across the state (half in metro Detroit)

Register to golf all day at participating courses that will waive greens fees for the day, allowing registered golfers to raise $315,000 for the National MS Society.

Cost: $125 minimum per golfer; cart fees might apply

Movement 2008 – Detroit’s Electronic Music Festival

No plans for Memorial Day Weekend? Stay in town, and soak up Movement 2008 – Detroit’s Electronic Music Festival. The festival returns for its ninth year to the home of techno music. Multiple stages will feature performances by Benny Benassi, Buzz Goree, Carl Craig, Cool Kids, DBX, Girl Talk, Konrad Black, Minx, Moby, 
Speedy J and Terrence Parker, among others.
Cost: VIP pass, $150; weekend pass, $40
