Considering Detroit, MOCAD’s latest exhibition, will explore contemporary art in the Detroit area. The exhibition, the first in a series, aims to document the recent history of the region’s art, according to MOCAD. Various artists and groups, such as Ellen Cantor, Maurice Greenia, Jim Gustafson, Allie McGhee, Heather McGill, Gordon Newton and artist collective TIME STEREO, will be highlighted in the 2008 exhibition. Works to be displayed include drawings, videos and installations, among other things.

This four-session workshop for adults teaches how to decorate pots using creative techniques with slips, stains, glazes and cold wax. Students make test forms in the first class, then apply surface techniques and glazing in the other classes. Students are welcome to bring small, unglazed bisqueware pieces to practice on. Students should have basic knowledge of wheel-throwing and hand-building.
